Construction on this beautiful, 4000+ sq/ft custom home has just begun. The project is anticipated to earn a 5-star rating from Austin Energy and will feature 5 tons of geothermal heating/cooling, a 6kw solar pv array, and dual CES smart panels. The house will have an airtight, spray foam insulated thermal envelope and a 7500 gallon rainwater collection system for irrigation will be constructed utilizing an old swimming pool. The design features large overhangs and many mature oak trees for shading. Wall construction is Advanced Framing 2×6 along with pre-manufactured trusses for the roof system. Scheduled completion is November 2011.

This charming custom home, completed in February 2011, is currently in the process of receiving its ratings for both Austin Energy and Energy Star HERS.  The design of the house utilizes many “Passive House” elements such as its orientation, large roof overhangs, casement windows promoting cross ventilation, window shade awnings on the south and west walls,  and a large screen porch off the kitchen and master bedroom. It features a 4.75kW UniSolar thin film laminate PV array, a 3 ton dual-zone ClimateMaster geothermal/ground source heat pump, airtight spray foam insulation, and a CES smart electrical panel.  Stained concrete floors on the main level and rapidly renewable bamboo flooring upstairs are just a few of the sustainable elements found inside the house.
